So we have hit two areas of the house where we cannot agree.
Or even compromise on.
So I'm stating my case here. Publicly.
Problem 1: The drop in the kitchen.
The plan is to take out this window. Replace it with two windows which will be more centered and over the sink area, if you will. I want the drop gone to allow the light of the new windows to "breathe". He wants the drop to stay.
Problem 2: the "not matching" chimney
Since the original brick chimney could not be exposed in the living area, David took great pride in creating a limestone beauty of a faux chimney to replace it.
However, now we have limestone chimney inside, yet a red brick chimney outside.
It's my idea to also cover the outside part of the chimney on the roof, with the same limestone from the backyard that he used on the inside.
He says, who will look up and who will notice?
The conversations remind me of a kind of 'does the carpet match the drapes?' reference.
I would never dye my hair blonde. So when he asks, who will look up?
I will, that's who.
HA, I bet you don't even have carpet
ReplyDeleteLoose the bulkhead but keep the external chimney brick. The brick is correct for the period and architecture, you can get away with changing it on the interior because you're not looking at the overall of the house , only a room. And for the windows go tall, I would bet the original windows were around 72" tall. Just my two cents.
